We arrived at the Valencia train station on November 3rd to some beautiful weather.
Next to the train station is the bull fighting arena. Bull fighting only takes place here in the summer. I don't think that I would want to watch it, even if I had the opportunity.
After settling into our hotel we headed out to explore the city. Valencia is really beautiful and very clean. We then headed to the Valencia Cathedral. This cathedral houses the chalice that is said to be the Holy Grail.

On Thursday morning we came down to breakfast to find that Kentucky had made the Valencia newspaper. The headline translates to, "Free, even to be racist."
The Turia River used to flow through Valencia, to the north of the old town area. There were a lot of problems with flooding so in the 1960s they rerouted the river to go around the outside of the suburban areas and converted the existing river bed into a park, 7 km long. It was a really neat area. There were soccer fields, playgrounds, beautiful green spaces and little cafes.
At one end of the river bed park there is the City of Arts and Sciences. This area had some very interesting buildings. This is the Science Museum.
The other side of the Science Museum to the left. In the middle is an arena. While we were there, the Valencia Open tennis tournament was taking place.

This building, which is designed to look like the human eye, is the IMAX theater.
One of the parks in the river bed has a large Gulliver playground. If you can't tell, this is Gulliver lying in the sand after being tied down. The kids are sliding down the end of his jacket.
Right next to the playground is this beautiful statue.

After two beautiful days in Valencia, we boarded the train for an 8 hr trip to Granada.
